Tattoo Removal Using Laser

Tattoos are designs or marks which is done for making skin attractive or as a craziness. Youngsters do tattooing more than older people and are doing for no reason. In older times tattoos are considered as permanent. But now it is reversible process. We can remove tattoos when ever we want. This made it more popular. Everybody is confident to do it, because they can remove it any time, if it is not needed later.

Laser Tattoo Removal

Before Laser Tattoo Removal technique the dermatologist used dermabrasion, cryosurgery,  excision etc. for tattoo removal.
Laser Tattoo Removal is one of the latest method, in which laser waves are given continuously to the tattooed position initially and then Q-switched lasers will be used to remove tattoos partially or fully. The tattooed ink particles will be fragmented by this process and with our body's natural immune system, the skin will automatically absorb the fragmented pigments. It will fade away in course of several weeks.

Removal of tattoo is not that easy when observed. Dark or Black tattoos can be removed easily than other coloured tattoos like yellow, green & fluorescent colours. All tattoo pigments have unique absorption spectra. The absorption spectra of these colours may fall outside or on the edge of the emission spectra available in the tattoo removal laser. This makes it difficult to remove these colours. The tattoo removal laser will be used differently for different tattoos.

Tattoo removal can be done only with several clinical sessions. Normally the treatment sessions will be seven weeks spaced. According to the intensity of colour pigment, size of tattoo, the removal process may extend to years. Also it is depended on each individual's skin type, location, colour, scarring or tissue change, layering etc.

Laser Tattoo Removal Before & After

There are several risk factors in tattoo removal process even if it is normally done by everyone. It increases the possibility of discolouration of skin such as hypopigmentation, hyperpigmentation. These changes are not permanent. Sometimes "paradoxical darkening" occurs, in which the tattoo becomes darker after treatment instead of lighter. This may occur due to the colours used like white ink, flesh tones, pink, and cosmetic make-up tattoos.
